CANDY'S ROOM

Live 13 Dec 2009 version

In Candy's room, there are pictures of her heroes on the wall
But to get to Candy's room, you gotta walk the darkness of Candy's hall
Strangers from the city call my baby's number, they bring her toys
When I come knocking, she smiles pretty 'cause she knows I wanna be Candy's boy

There's a sadness hidden in that pretty face
A sadness all her own, from which no man can keep Candy safe
We kiss, my heart's pumping to my brain
The blood rushes in my veins, the fire rushes towards the sky
We go driving, driving deep into the night
I go driving deep into the light, in Candy's eyes

She says, "baby if you wanna be wild, you got a lot to learn
Close your eyes, let them melt, let them fire, let them burn"
'Cause in the darkness, there'll be hidden worlds that shine
When I hold Candy close she makes these hidden worlds mine

She has fancy clothes and diamond rings
She has men who give her anything she wants, but they don't see
What she wants is me
Oh and I want her so, I'll never let her go, no no no
She knows that I'd give all that I've got to give
All that I want, all that I live to make Candy mine

The Promise: The Darkness On The Edge Of Town Story

The Promise: The Darkness On The Edge Of Town Story is a Bruce Springsteen box set released in 2010 on Columbia Records. It was originally expected to be released for the Darkness On The Edge Of Town album's 30th anniversary in 2008, but that didn't happen, possibly due to Springsteen's touring schedule. The box set was officially announced on 26 Aug 2010 and released to retail on 16 Nov 2010.

The 8.5"x11" box set contains three CDs, three Blu-Ray discs or three DVDs, and an 80-page spiral-bound notebook containing facsimiles from Springsteen's original notebooks from the recording sessions, which include alternate lyrics, song ideas, recording details, and personal notes, in addition to a new essay by Springsteen on the album and never-before-seen photographs. The box set won the 2012 Grammy Award for Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package.

The documentary premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on 14 Sep 2010 and also aired on HBO on 07 Oct 2010. It was first exclusively available as part of The Promise: The Darkness On The Edge Of Town Story box set, but was then released separately on 03 May 2011, in both DVD and Blu-Ray formats, with some bonus features.
