The above lyrics are for the live 22 Sep 1974 performance of A LOVE SO FINE Kean College, Union, NJ, during what is considered The Wild, The Innocent, & The E Street Shuffle Tour. The song included a snippet of The Isley Brothers' SHOUT in the interlude. This early performance of the song used the lyrics "a night like this" in the chorus, which was replaced with it with "a love so fine" in later versions.
This was a free double-bill show, with Bruce Springsteen headlining and folk stylist Jae Mason opening. The show was held outdoors on the lawn behind the college's student center.
