The show we have here meets that criteria and was a long time coming. It was not originally meant to be uncirculated, however, circumstances of the recording itself has kept it shelved for the past 23 years. The recording was originally captured by KK. KK was the moderator of the groundbreaking text only "Luckytown Digest", the original Bruce Springsteen internet fan forum that was influential in paving the way for the multiple internate forums the Bruce community enjoys today. AK picks up the story here stating, "the recording had very hot levels with distortion and seemed unsalvageable. He mailed me his DAT and I cloned it. At some point down the road I realized one channel was not distorted and I used an analog “y” cable through analog outs of my DAT deck (this was long before digital editing software was readily available) to put the non distorted mono channel in both channels". The show was then shelved and essentially hasn't moved for the past two decades...until now. The "mono" file was supplied to see what kind of spit and polish could be applied. I immediately noticed lurking underneath was a close to the stage fairly stable recording that was good but flat, missing much of the mid and high frequencies. The file was leveled, smoothing out the low dialogue and high audience claps, typical for a Tom Joad show. Then mastered to bring out the frequencies hiding underneath. I was extremely pleased with the way it mastered and finished it off by adding back a small amount of reverb to widen the mono field, this brought it all together. I believe the final product is a stunning recording upgrade. The show itself is also a stunning performance, the film 'Dead Man Walking' was to be released two days later on January 12th featuring the tune 'Dead Man Walking' written specifically for the film. This film release spurred the rarely played 'Dead Man Trilogy', a threefer of "Johnny 99", "Dead Man Walking" and "Nebraska" only played together on two other occasions. First thanks for this one goes to KK, wherever you are, thanks for the original "Luckytown Digest" and helping pioneer this whole crazy Bruce community as well as the capture and though having some warts, having the foresight to allow the DAT Master to be cloned opening the door to what we present today. Second big thanks goes to AK, for the original channel fix some twenty years ago and once again dusting it off and helping unleash it in the world...it's a beauty!
