This was the 2d night of Bruce’s stand at the old Wembley Stadium, and another perfect weather day. I was able again to time my entry and get to about the same place as the day before, centered on the stage and about 25-30 people deep. The 4th of July may not be significant to the average London attendee, but Bruce choose to mark it by coming out to 80,000 screaming fans alone with just his guitar and harmonica, and quieted the stadium with his acoustic performance of Independence Day, albeit without the introspective spoken lead-in of other performances. The opening 3-pack that followed was HOT, Seeds followed for only its second performance, then a beautiful Darkness / River pairing that shines through in this recording. Steve guests again in the encores, and the Wembley crowd provides another stellar assist on Twist & Shout. I hope you enjoy this as much now as I did then! JimCT Recorded by JimCT.
