TAKE OUT SOME INSURANCE©

Live Feb 1972 version

Oh
Get this!
Well if you leave me, baby, you don't take me back
You say you ever go, honey, I just know, you're gonna die of a heart attack
You better take out some insurance, better take out some insurance on me
'Cause if you ever say goodbye, I'm gonna roll right over and die

Written by Charles Singleton and Waldenese Hall, TAKE OUT SOME INSURANCE was originally recorded and released by Jimmy Reed in 1959. Check out Jimmy Reed's original version for more details.

As far as it's known, Bruce Springsteen performed TAKE OUT SOME INSURANCE live only once, with the Bruce Springsteen Band in February 1972 at the Backdoor Club, Richmond, VA. Springsteen played only the first verse, as part of a medley with I'M INTO SOMETHING GOOD. Soundboard recording of that performance of the song (taken from Tinker West's original reel tape) is circulating among collectors. The Bruce Springsteen Band played 9 shows at the Backdoor Club, and exact date of this recording of TAKE OUT SOME INSURANCE is unknown.
