Written and originally recorded by New Orleans R&B singer and songwriter Chris Kenner in 1961,
and released in 1966 on his LP Land Of 1000 Dances, on the Atlantic Records label (check out
Chris Kenner original version. The song was covered by several
artists, including Van Morrison with Them on their 1966 album, Them Again. Some see that
Bruce Springsteen's rendition of the song is inspired by Van Morrison's version.
