RED HEADED WOMAN
Live 17 Nov 1990 version
[spoken intro:] Yeah, this is uh... It's funny, about 20 years ago, when Jackson
and, and Bonnie and I met, I was playing at Max's Kansas City, Jackson was playing at the Bitter
End, and uh, Bonnie was playing at Cafe Au Go Go and this guy David Blue saw me at Max's and say
"Hey kid, come here", and brought me down uh, to Bitter End and Jackson had his first
record out, and at the time I don't think I had a record out yet. I got up and played and, and
Bonnie came across the street from Cafe Au Go Go and... You know, so, I was telling the folks last
night that back when uh, it was hard to get a job, Bonnie Raitt used to let me open up for her.
She said she thought I was cute (cheers). You gotta watch those redheads, ???, it's the redheads.
Wow! You know. Well you know Bonnie's got that sexy thing going and Patti came down tonight and
like to get them two redheads together and... And like when they both wear their hair up high,
they, they kinda have that Miss Kitty thing going from the ??? (cheers). Yeah, it's nice, it's
nice. But uh, anyway, this is uh, this is to my two favorite redheads. Oh yeah, like I remember
how to play it.
Well brunettes are fine man
And blondes are fun
But when it comes to getting a dirty job done
I'll take a red headed woman
A red headed woman
I'll take a red headed woman
Yeah that will get that job done
Well now listen up stud
Your life's been wasted
'Til you've been down on your knees and tasted
A red headed woman
A red headed woman
It takes a red headed woman
To get that job done
Or you're done
Yiii...
Whoaaa...
Well tight skirt, strawberry hair
Tell me what secrets you've got baby under there
Big green eyes that look like sun
They can see every cheap thing that you ever done
Well now I don't care how many girls you've dated, man
You ain't lived till you've had your tires rotated
By a red headed woman
Yeah-oh a red headed woman
It takes a red headed woman
To gone and get that job done
Well now all you girls out there tonight sure look fine
But my heart and soul and this body of mine
Is a red headed woman's
Yeah it's a red headed woman
It takes a red headed woman
To get that dirty job done
Ah yeah come baby!
Yiii...
What's that baby?
Will I what?
Can I what?
Ah sure girl, you know what I like
Yiii...

Christic Institute Benefit Shows
Bruce Springsteen joined Bonnie Raitt and Jackson Browne on 16 and 17 Nov 1990
at Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA, for two acoustic benefit shows for the Christic
Institute. The shows "were two of the most important and dramatic concerts of his
[Springsteen's] career", Backstreets magazine founder Charles R. Cross wrote.
According to the Golden Globe, Springsteen and manager Jon Landau even considered making an
album from these shows at one point.

The Christic Institute was a public interest law firm whose most high-profile
case was going to expose the CIA's involvement in the Iran-Contra drug smuggling scandals. The
case was dismissed by the judge days before the trial was to begin, claiming that Christic's
attorneys had failed to present some of the evidence. Christic was ordered to pay over $1 million
in court costs for the defendants, effectively bankrupting the firm.
