REASON TO BELIEVE©

14 Jun 2006 cover version

Seen a man standin' over a dead dog lyin' in a ditch
Lookin' down kinda puzzled pokin' that dog with a stick
Got his car door flung open down on Highway 31
As if he stood there long enough the dog'd get up and run
Struck me kinda funny, funny anyway
At the end of every hard earned day people find some reason to believe

Mary Lou loved Johnny, loved him mean and true
She said "work hard so every day, bring my money home to you"
One day he up and left her, ever since that
'Till that she waits at the end of that dirt road, look for Johnny to come back
Struck me kinda funny, funny anyway
At the end of every hard earned day people find some reason to believe

Take that baby to the river, Kyle William they called him
Washed the baby in the water, take away little Kyle's sins
In a whitewash shotgun shack an old man passes away
Take the body to the graveyard, over him they pray
Lord won't you tell us what does it mean
At the end of every hard earned day people find some reason to believe
Struck me kinda funny, funny anyway
At the end of every hard earned day people find some reason to believe
??? Lenny Kaye!

Congregation gathers down by the riverside
Preacher stands with his Bible, the groom stands by his side
Congregation gone, sun sets behind the willow tree
And the man stands alone watching his whole river rush on by so effortlessly
Struck me kinda funny, kinda funny anyway
At the end of every hard earned day people find some reason to believe
Everybody!
Struck me kinda funny, funny anyway
At the end of every hard earned day people find some reason to believe
One more time!
Struck me kinda funny, funny anyway
So at the end of every hard earned day people find some reason to believe

Woahhh! ???!
Woo-woo woo-woo!
Woo-woo woo!
I got a reason, reason to believe
I got a reason, woahhh, got a reason to believe
???! Woo-woo!
Standing on the ???, reaching for the sky
In the Louisiana sunset, ???
In the shadow of the towers, in the ???
Still find some reason, reason to believe
???

Let's go Kevin!

We got a reason, reason to believe
I got a reason, reason to believe
I got a reason, reason to believe
I got a reason, reason to believe
Reason, reason to believe
Reason, reason to believe
Reason to believe
Woahhh!

I got a reason to believe
