Intro

PEOPLE GET READY is a song written by Curtis Mayfield and first released by The Impressions in 1965. See the original The Impressions version for more details.

Lines from PEOPLE GET READY are used in the studio version of Springsteen's LAND OF HOPE AND DREAMS.

17 Oct 2005 Performance

The above lyrics are for the live 17 Oct 2005 performance of PEOPLE GET READY at Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, PA, with U2, during the band's Vertigo Tour. Earlier in the show, Bono sang a snippet of Springsteen's THE PROMISED LAND at the end of I STILL HAVEN'T FOUND WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR. After the first encore break, Bruce Springsteen joined U2 on stage for an extended rendition of PEOPLE GET READY, and Patti Scialfa joined them in the middle of the song. Bono improvised some verses in honor of his guest, and added some "Turn it up!" lines from Springsteen's MARY'S PLACE.
