PARTY LIGHTS
The River take
Sitting all alone tonight
Tell me darling do you miss the party lights?
Oh do you miss it every night?
Do you miss the party lights?
Oh ???
Do you miss the party lights?
You got married and
Baby married and you
Married but you were just fifteen
You ???
???
You got dirty and you ???
Baby ??? right
???
So will you tell me
Do you miss the party lights?
When you're sitting up at night
Tell me whoa
Do you miss the party lights?
Now baby
Do you miss the party lights
Oh yeah, do you ???
You say you watch them shine from you window at night
Down in town
Baby do you miss the party lights
Oh darling do you miss the party lights?
Oh as you watch them shine from you window at night down in town
Do you miss the party lights?
??? tonight
??? tired ???
You were ???
And they don't know???
You got a man and he treats you mighty right
??? as he breathes in the night
But baby do you miss the party lights?
Watch them
1980-1981 The River or
pre-Nebraska Home Demo. These lyrics refer to
The River take. Check also the
pre-Nebraska take.
Similar in some ways to the narrative of THE RIVER, a girl who is trapped
into something from a young age, and is forced to give up the good times, the party lights. On this track, it
sounds more like an unhappy marriage, rather than a pregnancy, was the cause behind this (although the
pregnancy did lead to an unhappy marriage eventually in THE RIVER).
