MANNISH BOY

Oooh yeah (ooo-oooh)
Oh yeah (ooo-oooh)
E'rything gonna be alright, this mo'nin
Oh, yeah!

Now, when I was young boy
At the age a-five
My mother say I's gonna be
The greatest man alive

But now I'm a man
I past twenty-one
I want you to believe me, honey
I have lots a-fun

I'm a man
Spell, M-A chile, N
That'll well within' man
No, B.O. child Y
That mean mannish boy

I'm a man
I'm a full grown man
I'm a man
I'm a natural born lover's man

I'm a man, child
I'm a rollin' stone
I'm a man, child
I'm a Hoochie Coochie Man

[instrumental and guitar]

Settin' on the outside
Just me and my mate
You know I made the moon, honey
Come up two hours late

Was that a man?
I spell, M-A, child, N
That well within' man
No, B-O, child, Y
That mean mannish boy

A man
I'm a full grown man
I'm a natural born lover's man

I'm a man
I'm a rollin' stone

I'm a man, child
I'm a Hoochie Coochie Man
Oh, yea-yeah

I'm a natural born lover, child
Whoa, yeah

I'm a rollin' stone
Whoa, yeah

I'm a natural born lover's man
Whoa, yeah

I'm a Hoochie Coochie Man

Well! well!

Oh, yes
Whoa, yeah

Well, I'm a natural born lover's man

Well

Natural born lover's man.

[instrumental and guitar fade to end]

A classic blues song by Muddy Waters. The song was a rearrangement of the classic Bo Diddley hit I'M A MAN. It was originally recorded and released as singles in 1955, and then included on The Best Of Muddy Waters that year. The was later re-recorded in in 1977 in a memorable hit version that was produced by Johnny Winter and released on Muddy Waters' Hard Again album and in 1988 featured in a jeans TV commercial. Jimi Hendrix covered this song on his introspective album Blues.
