LUCKY GIRL
Patti Scialfa's studio version
I never wanted nothing
Baby you know it's true
I never wanted nothing
The way I wanted you
I kept me hands clean
I walked a good line
I knew someday baby
Someday you'd be mine
And when fortune came to town
I was standing in with the unsatisfied
So I lay my wishes down
For the things that money can't buy
Oh I guess I'm a lucky girl
Oh baby you know it's true
Oh I guess I'm a lucky girl
I've been lucky since I found you
I used to play it safe
Yea that's what I'd do
I never wanted nothing
Nothing I could lose
I was just frightened of
Of the price you pay
For every good thing
That ever comes your way
I'm going to lay my worries down
Lay them down baby
Yeah I can't complain
'Cause I'm shining (shining) down
Like a new link in an old chain
Oh I guess I'm a lucky girl
I've been lucky since I found you
I'm a lucky girl
I'm a lucky girl
I'm a lucky girl
I'm a lucky girl
Yeah I got lucky baby
Yeah 'cause I got wise
You can run but you can never hide
Build a house of steel
Raise a cross of stone
When that cold wind blows
It finds you all alone
And when fortune came to town
I was standing in with the unsatisfied
So I lay my wishes down
For the things that money can't buy
Oh I guess I'm a lucky girl
Oh baby you know it's true
Oh I guess I'm a lucky girl
I've been lucky since I found you
Oh I guess I'm a lucky girl
Mmmm baby you know it's true
Oh I guess I'm a lucky girl
I've been lucky since I found you
I've been lucky since
I've been lucky since
I've been lucky since I found you
I've been lucky since
I've been lucky since
I've been lucky since I found you
Oh guess I'm a lucky girl
Oh such a lucky girl
Oh yes I'm a lucky girl
Oh such a lucky girl

Written by Patti Scialfa and Mike Campbell, LUCKY GIRL is from Patti's debut album Rumble
Doll which she released on 13 Jul 1993 on Columbia Records.

Bruce Springsteen plays guitars and keyboards on the studio recording of two songs from
Rumble Doll: BIG BLACK HEAVEN and
TALK TO ME LIKE THE RAIN. He is also credited for
production assistance on both tracks. He did not contribute on LUCKY GIRL.
The above lyrics are for the Rumble Doll album's version of LUCKY GIRL.
Patti Scialfa reportedly celebrated her 42nd birthday party on 06 Aug 1995 (though her birth
date is 29 Jul 1953) at Cheers Club, Long Branch, NJ. Bobby Bandiera and his band were the house
band, and it has been reported by some sources that LUCKY GIRL was performed on that occasion.
Probably Patti took the stage, backed by husband Bruce Springsteen and Bobby Bandiera and his
band.
The only confirmed performance of LUCKY GIRL with Brice Springsteen was on 13 Apr 2002 at The
Stone Pony, Asbury Park, NJ, during a Private benefit for the Rumson Country Day School, Rumson,
NJ.
