LIGHTEN UP
Original Joe Grushecky and The Houserockers version
You better lighten up
You better lighten up or let me go
You better lighten up
You better lighten up or let me go
Well you think you know everything about me
But there's some things I just don't need
Don't tell me what to do now baby
Don't tell me what I should think
You better lighten up
You better lighten up or let me go
I work hard for you honey
Well I get the job done
When I'm through taking care of business
It's time to have some fun
And when the lights go out
And when the lights go out
And when the lights go out
And when the lights go out
You better lighten up
You better lighten up or let me go

Live History
In October 1995, Joe Grushecky and The Houserockers kicked off the release of
their American Babylon album with a six-stop tour dubbed the "October Assault."
Introduced as "honorary Houserocker of the week" on the first night, Springsteen joined
the band for the majority of the set on all six dates, playing guitar and sharing vocals with
Grushecky. At each show, Springsteen came out for American Babylon's
WHAT DID YOU DO IN THE WAR and remained on stage for
the rest of the set. LIGHTEN UP was performed only once on that tour, closing the 20 Oct 1995 show
at Nick's Fat City in Pittsburgh, PA.
