Written by Joe Beal and Jim Boothe, JINGLE BELL ROCK was originally released and made famous by Bobby Helms in 1957. The above lyrics are for Helms' version.

Bobby Helms original version was recorded in 1957 and released that year as a single on Decca Records (catalogue # DECCA 9-30513). CAPTAIN SANTA CLAUS (AND HIS REINDEER SPACE PATROL) was the b-side.

Although this was released only 2 days before Christmas in 1957, the single still hit #6 on the pop chart. JINGLE BELL ROCK re-emerged four out of the next five years, and sold so well that it went back to the top charts each time. Bobby Helms re-recorded and re-released the song several more times, as in 1965, 1967, 1970, and 1983.

JINGLE BELL ROCK is considered the first mainstream Rock And Roll Christmas song, and is now a Christmas classic that still receives frequent airplay during Christmas time every year since it's release.

Bruce Springsteen performed JINGLE BELL ROCK a few times around Christmas time in 2001 and 2002. Check out the live 06 Dec 2001 version for more details.
