HEARTBREAK HOTEL©

Live 01 Sep 1978 version

Well since my baby left me
I found a new place to dwell
Well down the end of Lonely street at Heartbreak Hotel
You get so lonely
You get so lonely
You get so lonely you could die

Well bellhop's tears keep flowing
And the desk clerk dressed in black
They've been so long on Lonely street, they're never even back
It makes you so lonely
So ??? and lonely
You get so lonely you could die
Whoa!

Although it's always crowded
You still can find some room
For broken hearted lovers to cry in their gloom
You get so lonely
So ??? and lonely
It makes you so lonely you could die

Whoa, if your baby leaves you
You've got a tale to tell
Just take a walk down Lonely street to Heartbreak Hotel
You get so lonely
So ??? and lonely
You get so lonely you could die

Song into on 01 Sep 1978 at Masonic Temple Auditorium, Detroit, MI:

There was a, there was a song written by a lady by the name of Mae Axton back in about 1955. She was Hoyt Axton's mother. And I guess if my mother'd wrote this song, she wouldn't be in California and I wouldn't be in New Jersey. But uh (chuckles), but uh, I think it's a beautiful song, it's one of my most favorite songs. And uh, it's uh, song about what happens when you get so lonely that you could die. Woah.
