GRANDPA'S GONE DOWN

Lyrics not available

Written by Bruce in late 1971 for his deceased grandfather. Bruce copyrighted the song and probably recorded it sometime between Apr 1972 and Feb 1973. There is only one know live performance (solo piano) on 09 Dec 1971 at Freehold Township High School, Freehold, NJ (read below).

From Brucebase, about the 09 Dec 1971 show at Freehold Township High School, Freehold, NJ:

Bruce gives an unadvertised 45-minute SOLO performance (on a grand piano rented specifically for Bruce by promoter Victor Wasylczenko). Headliner for this show was Sunny Jim, with Tumbleweed the primary support act. Bruce performed in between both groups. Bruce ended his performance with a stunning ode to his deceased grandfather, a song Bruce described as having just completed a day or two earlier. This is believed to be the one and only live performance of GRANDPA'S GONE DOWN, a composition known via early Sioux City Music copyright documents - but a song that has not surfaced among the pool of early copyright demos Bruce recorded. The remaining song titles Bruce played during this show are, as yet, unverified. Note: there were two High Schools serving the Freehold area. Freehold Township is not the one Bruce graduated from.
