GLORY DAYS©

Original demo

I knew a buddy in high school, good player at baseball (you just... everybody tries to hit him)
He threw that ball, speedball down the plate, make you look just like a fool
I met him in a bar last... at night, he sat in a bar with a raincoat on
He was just talking about them glory days, and said "now 'em glory days are gone", from Stockton

Yeah you just don't count when you're from Stockton, they get you out

My dad worked for fifty years, just turned 59
There in the cold, he lose his job down, they tell him he's too old
Back in '59 he worked in production on the Ford plant assembly line
Pluggin' in them, slappin' in them firewalls and windshields
Now they don't give him piece of their minds, Stockton

Yeah you just don't count, when you're from Stockton, they turn you down

This is a very early acoustic demo of GLORY DAYS recorded in early 1982. It appears on The Lost Master Vol. 10 and The Lost Masters Essential collection I bootlegs. An extra verse outtake also exists.

Check also these live versions form the Born In The USA tour: 12 Jul 1984, 19 Aug 1984, 20 Aug 1984, 14 Sep 1984, 18 Nov 1984, 19 Nov 1984, 07 Dec 1984, 07 Jan 1985, and 04 Jul 1985. They are pretty similar, but the spoken introductions differ sometimes. Check also these live versions form the Tunnel Of Love Express tour, 10 May 1988, Human Rights Now! tour, 15 Oct 1988, Human Touch tour, 10 Jul 1992 and 24 Jun 1993, and The Rising tour, 16 Nov 2002, 07 Mar 2003, 26 Jul 2003, and 06 Aug 2003. All those live versions are very similar.
