TALKING ABOUT MY BABY

Live 30 Oct 1971 version

She's cool, she's the only girl that played me for a fool
And she's tough, and when she love me, don't you know she loves me rough
She comes on fast, she plays the game hard
She once told me nothing ever lasts
I said, "But look at you, baby
Can't you see that you're battle scarred?"

(Well she's a demon), I find it so hard to please her
(She's a victor), she's making eyes at each and every mister
Oh and she got style
I can tell you when she's mad because she's mine

She's cold, sometimes I think that her heart's made out of stone
But when she's hot she loves me super warm and gives me everything that she got
She comes and cries to me, she says, "Honey, I got to be free"
I tell her ???
Because that's the only way, the only way that I can be

(She's a lover), don't you know she's a mother
(She's a lover), she's another kind of lover
Oh she got class, I know she's for me
(She's mine), that's how I know you're my girl

[2-minute instrumental]

She's scared, I ain't never seen a woman who was so scared
And don't you know that she's an outlaw
Just ask her, she'll tell you what for
She comes on fast, she plays the game hard
She tells me baby, "Can't you see, nothing ever lasts"
I said, "But babe, without you, I'm no good"

(Can't you hear me, can't you hear me talking about my) baby
(I'm talking about my baby), she's on my mind
(I'm talking about my baby)
(Can't you hear me, can't you hear me, can't you hear me talking about my)
(Can't you hear me, can't you hear me, can't you hear me talking about my)
I'm talking about my baby
I'm talking about my baby
I'm talking about my baby
I'm talking about my baby
