The above lyrics are for the live 25 Mar 1977 performance of (YOUR LOVE KEEPS LIFTING ME) HIGHER AND HIGHER at Music Hall in Boston, MA, during what is known as The Lawsuit Tour. This was the last of four consecutive shows at the venue that concluded the tour.
Despite the marvelous reception received by both Born To Run and the tour which followed, the relationship between Bruce Springsteen and his now former manager and producer Mike Appel was deteriorating. In July 1976 the storm broke; Mike Appel wrote to Springsteen saying that he would not allow Jon Landau (Springsteen's friend and co-producer of Born To Run) to produce the next album, citing a particular paragraph from their original agreement. Springsteen replied on 27 Jul 1976 by firing manager Mike Appel and suing him and his management company Laurel Canyon Ltd. in Federal Court in Manhattan, claiming fraud, breach of trust, and undue influence. Appel counter-sued on 29 Jul 1976 in New York State Supreme Court, asking the court to prohibit Springsteen and Jon Landau from working together in studio. Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band were slated to enter the studio that year for the recording of a new album, except that on 15 Sep 1976 the judge in the lawsuits case ruled that Springsteen was enjoined from any further recording with Columbia Records until Appel's suit was resolved. This would drag for about a year. Meanwhile, Springsteen continued gigging, and in the process broke his self-imposed rule of not playing the larger arenas. This was basically because he was not able to put a record out, and it was the only way his fans would be able to hear him at all. The tour became known as "The Lawsuit Tour" (62 know dates, August 1976 to March 1977).

(YOUR LOVE KEEPS LIFTING ME) HIGHER AND HIGHER was sound-checked prior to the 22 Jul 1975 show in Geneva, NY, (as far as it's known) but it was not performed on any of the Born To Run Tour's regular shows. At that sound-checked the song was played in an arrangement different to later concert versions.
(YOUR LOVE KEEPS LIFTING ME) HIGHER AND HIGHER is known to have been performed at least twice during what is known as The Lawsuit Tour (62 know dates, August 1976 to March 1977). These were the tour's very last two shows. Some of that period's setlists are incomplete or unknown, and therefore, the song may have been played on some more dates during the Lawsuit Tour, but that's unlikely.

The live 07 Nov 2009 version of (YOUR LOVE KEEPS LIFTING ME) HIGHER AND HIGHER was released on the MSG 11.07.09 official live download in 2020. The live 08 Nov 2009 version of (YOUR LOVE KEEPS LIFTING ME) HIGHER AND HIGHER was released on the MSG Nov 08, 2009 official live download in 2018. The live 22 Nov 2009 version of (YOUR LOVE KEEPS LIFTING ME) HIGHER AND HIGHER was released on the HSBC Arena, Buffalo, NY 11/22/2009 official live download in 2016.
(YOUR LOVE KEEPS LIFTING ME) HIGHER AND HIGHER was performed once during the Wrecking Ball Tour (133 dates, March 2012 to September 2013), on 31 Jul 2012 in Helsinki, Finland. The live 31 Jul 2012 version of (YOUR LOVE KEEPS LIFTING ME) HIGHER AND HIGHER was released on the Olympiastadion, Helsinki July 31, 2012 official live download in 2017.
(YOUR LOVE KEEPS LIFTING ME) HIGHER AND HIGHER was performed off-tour on 13 May 1977 (late show) at Monmouth Arts Center in Red Bank, NJ, with The Asbury Park All-Star Revue.
(YOUR LOVE KEEPS LIFTING ME) HIGHER AND HIGHER was performed off-tour on 31 Dec 1977 at Capitol Theatre in Passaic, NJ, during a Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes concert. Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band made an unscheduled appearance at the end of the show, joining the Jukes onstage for a few songs before kicking into a 5-song set of their own. The song was played as part of the first set with Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes.
(YOUR LOVE KEEPS LIFTING ME) HIGHER AND HIGHER was performed off-tour on 05 Sep 1981 at Perkins Palace in Pasadena, CA, during a guest appearance with The Pretenders.
(YOUR LOVE KEEPS LIFTING ME) HIGHER AND HIGHER was performed off-tour on 29 Oct 2009 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, NY, during the first of the two Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame 25th anniversary concerts. The song was played at the end of Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band's set and also featured Darlene Love, John Fogerty, Tom Morello, Billy Joel, Jackson Browne, and Peter Wolf. This performance of (YOUR LOVE KEEPS LIFTING ME) HIGHER AND HIGHER aired on HBO a month later and was officially released on The 25th Anniversary Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Concerts album and home video in 2010.
Between 2002 and 2011, Bruce Springsteen played private benefit shows for schools and colleges that his kids attended — Rumson Country Day School of Rumson, NJ, and Ranney School of Tinton Falls, NJ, and Boston College of Chestnut Hill, MA. (YOUR LOVE KEEPS LIFTING ME) HIGHER AND HIGHER was performed at one of these fundraisers, on 23 Jan 2010 at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ, backed by Bobby Bandiera and his band.
(YOUR LOVE KEEPS LIFTING ME) HIGHER AND HIGHER was performed during the fifteenth (2015) annual Light Of Day benefit. The song was played with La Bamba's Big Band and Friends.
