The above lyrics are for the live 06 Dec 2001 performance of CHRISTMAS DAY at the Convention Hall in Asbury Park, NJ, during the third of the five 2001 Asbury Park holiday shows. The song was played in a full-band arrangement with the Max Weinberg 7 as the backing band and with the band's guitarist Jimmy Vivino stepping up on lead vocals.
Bruce Springsteen performed five Asbury Park holiday shows in 2001 (01, 04, 06, 07, and 08 December). These concerts were billed as "Bruce Springsteen with The Max Weinberg 7 and Friends", with The Max Weinberg 7 serving as the house band, and Springsteen bringing guests on and off the stage throughout the shows.
CHRISTMAS DAY was performed during four of the five 2001 Asbury Park holiday shows and all three 2003 Asbury Park holiday shows. On these shows the song was played in a full-band arrangement with the Max Weinberg 7 as the backing band and with the band's guitarist Jimmy Vivino stepping up on lead vocals.
