ALL JUST TO GET TO YOU is a song written by Joe Ely and Will Sexton and released on Ely's 1995 album Letter To Laredo. The above lyrics are for Joe Ely's album version of ALL JUST TO GET TO YOU as released in 1995.
Bruce Springsteen contributed to the studio recording of two songs on Letter To Laredo, ALL JUST TO GET TO YOU and I'M A THOUSAND MILES FROM HOME, providing back-up vocals. The album was recorded at Spur Studios (Joe Ely's home studio) in Austin, TX. Springsteen travelled to Austin around spring 1995 and joined Ely in studio to record his parts.
In addition to its release on Letter To Laredo, Joe Ely's album version of ALL JUST TO GET TO YOU also included on some other official releases.
ALL JUST TO GET TO YOU was performed once during what is known as The Reunion Tour (132 dates, April 1999 to July 2000), on 17 Apr 2000 in Austin, TX. The song featured a guest appearance by Joe Ely.
ALL JUST TO GET TO YOU was performed once during The Rising Tour (120 dates, August 2002 to October 2003), 02 Mar 2003 in Austin, TX. The song featured a guest appearance by Joe Ely.
ALL JUST TO GET TO YOU was performed once during the Magic Tour (100 dates, October 2007 to August 2008), on 14 Apr 2008 in Houston, TX. The song featured a guest appearance by Joe Ely.
ALL JUST TO GET TO YOU was sound-checked prior to the 06 May 2014 show in Houston, TX, (as far as it's known) but it was not performed on any of the High Hopes Tour's regular shows. The song was played with Joe Ely during the sound-check, but during the regular show Ely made a guest appearance on two difference songs.
ALL JUST TO GET TO YOU was performed off-tour on 14 Sep 1995 at The Viper Room in West Hollywood, CA, during the a guest appearance with Joe Ely.
ALL JUST TO GET TO YOU was performed off-tour on 17 Mar 1996 at The Mean Fiddler in Dublin, Ireland, during a guest appearance at a Joe Ely concert.
ALL JUST TO GET TO YOU was performed off-tour on 18 and 19 Oct 2001 at Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ, during The Alliance Of Neighbors Concerts. These shows were fundraisers for the families from Monmouth County, NJ, that were affected by the 9/11 tragedy. The 19 Oct 2001 show was broadcast on cable television. Bruce Springsteen reportedly appears on a twenty-minute promotional mini-documentary about Joe Ely that was broadcast in Europe (but not shown in the U.S.A.) in late 1995. Please contact me if you have any information about this documentary.
