Bruce Springsteen guests on 8 tracks on this album: CHAIN SMOKIN' (guitars, keyboard, percussion), NEVER BE ENOUGH TIME (guitar), HOMESTEAD (guitar, harmonica, mandolin), DARK AND BLOODY GROUND (guitars, harmony vocals), LABOR OF LOVE (guitars, mandolin), WHAT DID YOU DO IN THE WAR (guitar), BILLY'S WALTZ (mandolin), and ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE (guitar). Two of the tracks are co-written by Springsteen and Grushecky: HOMESTEAD and DARK AND BLOODY GROUND. Bruce Springsteen produced the entire album except the title track.
