See every Spain tour stop from The River through present day. I don’t know if it’s the love they get from the Spanish audiences or the beautiful atmosphere, likely a combination of both, but this show fits comfortably in the legacy of Spanish shows . I pulled from my own archives for this big material upgrade to the only circulating source. In 1999, I was on the edge of my final cassette tape trades and moving on to other forms of trade media. Many of us old school tapers/traders were still snail mailing it 2 or 3 tapes per show at a time so I have a dozen or so Reunion shows on tape and the balance were received on CDR. This release is from one of the tape copies, though the generation was not marked, based on the sonic qualities, I’d assume it’s low with some slight hiss during the few quieter songs. The circulating version of this source is from a second generation tape transfer, the notes list cuts to “Murder Incorporated”, “Hungry Heart”, “Born To Run” and “Cadillac Ranch”. Additionally, sonic frequencies of the circulating version are a bit on the buried side of things without much in the way of highs or lows. This release improves on that version in a number of ways. First, three of the four cuts are absent on this version and only the cut to “Murder Incorporated” remains. Second, the quality is a big material improvement and I’ll let the samples speak for themselves. The show is captured close to the stage and in a number of songs the low end borders on overpowering the recorder but iZotope did a nice job taming this issue. We still get the full weight of the beat with the occasional slight over saturation. A pitch adjustment (it ran very slow) and a little extra nip and tuck and we have a fine quality, highly listenable new version of one the great Reunion Tour show.
