So the story goes, Tape Man Joe attended many concerts. Joe used a Sony D6 with a Nakamichi Mic and TDK metal tapes. Joe made a few copies and gave them to friends but never actively traded his recordings. Recently Joe lent a few of his masters to his friend, Jungleland user G (a generous collector himself who has lent tapes from his collection to help upgrade many shows). G asked me to finish off the transfers and post them. The next installment of the series takes us to the fifth show on the TOL tour. The static setlist of the tour had pretty much already had been determined. The band is well-rehearsed and in fine form. Since Bruce decided to keep the setlists pretty much the same every night on the TOL tour, his way of expressing himself musically on the tour was through some of the most elaborate soundchecks from his entire career. If you haven't checked out the soundcheck from this show from the DS archives, I highly suggest you do so. Tape Man Joe's master has been the source of a few versions of this show (Spotlight On The Big Man and the G Tape). Recorder Two comes from the Two Of Us masters. There is a third Recorder in limited circulation. Thanks to Tape Man Joe for recording and sharing his tapes and G for transferring the files. 01.TUNNEL OF LOVE 02.BE TRUE 03.ADAM RAISED A CAIN 04.TWO FACES 05.ALL THAT HEAVEN WILL ALLOW 06.SEEDS 07.ROULETTE 08.COVER ME 09.BRILLIANT DISGUISE 10.SPARE PARTS 11.WAR 12.BORN IN THE U.S.A. 13.TOUGHER THAN THE REST 14.SHE'S THE ONE 15.YOU CAN LOOK (BUT YOU BETTER NOT TOUCH) 16.I'M A COWARD 17.I'M ON FIRE 18.ONE STEP UP 19.PART MAN, PART MONKEY 20.WALK LIKE A MAN 21.DANCING IN THE DARK 22.LIGHT OF DAY 23.BORN TO RUN 24.HUNGRY HEART 25.GLORY DAYS 26.CAN'T HELP FALLING IN LOVE 27.ROSALITA (COME OUT TONIGHT) 28.DETROIT MEDLEY Known faults: Tape flip between "Roulette" and "Cover Me'. Patched with 5 seconds of Recorder Two. From Brucbase WikiDot: Only one setlist change from the previous night: "Can't Help Falling In Love" replaces "Love Me Tender". "Part Man, Part Monkey" includes "Love Is Strange" in the outro. "Born To Run" is solo acoustic. "Detroit Medley" includes "I Hear A Train", "Sweet Soul Music", and "Shake". Fascinating soundcheck of 60s tracks include covers of "Let It Be Me" (The Everly Brothers), several Byrd's songs ("He Was A Friend Of Mine", "Goin' Back", "Mr. Tambourine Man") and Bob Dylan's "My Back Pages" (also covered by The Byrds) and "Just Like A Woman". Springsteen also soundchecks three Van Morrison tracks - "Brown Eyed Girl", "Tupelo Honey" and "Crazy Love".
