By this point in the tour we still had over 6 months of shows to go included the European leg of the tour and another leg in North America. The end of the 1980 leg of the tour had stretched to maximum epic length, for the 1981 portion of the tour and with Europe just over the horizon, the band was tightly focused and the shows were serious all business rock and roll shows. Until I was working on this show again I had forgotten what a one-off mixed up setlist the second half of this show is with "Ramrod" opening the second set and the usual opening triple play of "Cadillac Ranch", "Sherry Darling" and "Hungry Heart" is moved to the end of the set. After listening to every show of The River tour at one time or the other it is a little jolting to go from "Hungry Heart" into "Rosalita". Who knows what prompted the move but whatever it was Bruce quickly reverted back to the previously mentioned triple play to open set two. Quality on this one is good though a bit distant with some reverb that I was able to know down just a bit. A number of audience members yelling "sit down" points to a back of the floor capture. Being a low gen copy it is clean with little to no hiss present. I did have to remove many whistles around and near the taper. Samples provided... It's no surprise there are three recording sources for this show, Virginia being a de facto second home for the band and they were embraced as one of their own early in Bruce's career. It would not surprise me at all if there were not a couple more recording sources lurking out there just waiting to be discovered. Thanks as always to Dan S and his fabulous archives, many more shows yet to come. Artwork included... mjk5510
