The idea is to focus on shows performed in what would be considered secondary markets outside of the big city spotlight, all upgraded from lower generation tapes out of the CB Archives. We kick off our mini-series in Madison, Wisconsin as the third week of the tour rolls into the Dane County Coliseum. Brucebase describes the audience recording as having "plenty of edits" but you will find none of that here. This is an excellent capture that appears to not have any cuts or music missing. Clocking in at 140 minutes, the show is on the short side and follows the pattern of an early Darkness show. However, don't let that detour you, after eleven shows the band is dialed in from start to finish and we hear none of the tentativeness in the new material found in some of the earlier shows. With a new album six days old at this point, there is an early excitement to these shows captured wonderfully in this new low generation source. CB could not recall if he received it directly from the taper or a colleague of the taper. The review in next day's paper sums up the show with, "Everything the E Street Band did was breathtaking. They are the local bar band that made it. From Asbury Park, NJ, they are American working class rock at its best. And Bruce Springsteen is the consument rock 'n' roller." We couldn't have said it better. Thanks to CB for opening his archives once again and always at the ready to share with the Bruce community. mjk5510 in partnership with JEMS & CB
