"Spirit In The Night" includes a line from "Stagger Lee" in the introduction. "She's The One" includes a brief intro rap. "Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)" includes "Theme From Shaft" in the midsection. Final tour performance for "Incident On 57th Street". Notes by Oats: I want to thank SoleDriver for his generosity. I want to thank the 'BandofBrothers' who without their help these tapes would never have made it to their final destination... Essexboy for the initial drive to get these tapes on our behalf and start them off on their underwater journey and his son Adam who's fresh sense of hearing helped immeasurably during the editing process. Telecaster for his tireless effort transferring these DAT tapes and shipping them little by little to the next stop in the chain. Garry for the always great artwork. MJK5510 for his tireless prep work and post production help. Notice that I always capitalize MJK's initials, that's out of respect, for without his help these productions would be severely lacking in many areas. Flynn for his usual masterful touch, no pun intended. Last but not least, PeterNFCa, who assisted in the mastering and did most of the post production editing making this one heck of a Bootleg. This project started back in November of 2018 and was side-lined for well over a year due to reasons beyond our control. Now it's back on track and you should see regular releases from us in the future. This is the 2nd production by the 'BandofBrothers' and the first tape restored and mastered that was given to us by SoleDriver. He had these tapes in his possession for many, many years. He was given these tapes by an infamous bootlegger of some renown. Suffice to say... this and any future tapes travelled a long, long way to get into our hands. I love this show and always wished a better tape would come along. Knock On Wood has been the go to boot but it's incomplete and noisy. There's a complete tape but it too suffers from noise and hiss. Both tapes emanate from the same master as this tape however they are many generations apart from this tape and both lacked the current technology and editing expertise at our disposal. This tape had many inherent problems to overcome. I cannot stress enough, how hard those involved worked to bring you this great show in the best sound possible. Give this a listen and you be the judge. This show took place a month prior to the end of the 'Born To Run Tour' and the beginning of what was called the 'Chicken Scratch Tour.' Prior to this gig, Bruce played with other Bluesmen and Rock and Rollers most notably ... Chuck Berry in 1973 and Boz Skaggs in 1975. This may have been the first time he sang a set with one of his heroes, Eddie Floyd. Eddie Floyd was 12 years older than Bruce and famous for his style of play... the Stax sound. Bruce fell in love with his music in 1971. Playing with Eddie Floyd was a dream come true. As they ended their set together, you can hear the excitement in Bruce's voice as he shouts out numerous times... "That's the man that wrote the book!" After many months on tour The E Street Band was firing on all cylinders and Bruce was loose! This show starts off galloping with three hard charging rockers, 'Night', 10th Ave., and Spirit In The Night' before the pace slows for the rebellious 'It's My Life' which begins with an eerilly forboding intro. From that point forward we have a ten pack that we can only dream about these days, from Thunder Road to Rosalita, hit after big hit, rock anthem after anthem, with one exception… one of the longest Pretty Flamingo’s and in my humble opinion one of the best. This is an excellent, upbeat, rocking show, not too many ballads here. When you throw in Eddie Floyd's appearance, well... it's one for the ages. After the show, Stevie and Bruce jumped in a car and headed to Graceland. Bruce wanted to meet another of his heroes but alas after hopping the fence he was led off the Graceland property by a security guard as Elvis wasn't home. He was in Lake Tahoe. Years later on Sirius Radio, George "GK" Klein, host of a weekly show on Elvis's Radio channel and a close friend of Presley, stated "Elvis was aware of Springsteen at the time, and liked him... 'cause he was a rock 'n' roller." * Enjoy the show. Oats * Brucebase
