This ancient handheld camcorder video of Bruce and the Band on the European leg of 'The River' tour has been in circulation in various high gen versions for many years. However, it can now be seen in much improved quality via this new DVD that uses a VHS tape dubbed directly from the master as its source.
The video is shot from the right side of the arena, with stage equipment partially obstructing the view. There is also a strange smearing effect across the image. The audio is dull and distant. It is undoubtedly much better than all the versions that have gone before, but is still very poor by today's standards.
The incomplete clips of 10 songs from the show have been transferred as two separate Titles, running for a total of 26 minutes. Whether you view this is a priceless treasure, an interesting curio or just plain unwatchable depends very much on how you feel about the rare opportunity to see Bruce arguably in his prime.
